The score difference in science between the 10% of students with the highest scores and the 10% of students with the lowest scores is one of the largest among PISA-participating countries and economies. PISA reading performance measures a 15 year-old's capacity to understand, use and reflect on written texts in order to achieve goals, develop knowledge and potential, and participate in society. PISA also collects contextual information from students, school principals, and optionally, teachers and parents. The most recent PISA test was given in 2018 to 600,000 15-year-olds in 79 education systems around the world, and included both public and private school students.
